Some Asus routers experience slow speed performance when using PPPoE resulting in the routers CPU being excessively used. In some cases the CPU is running in excess of 90%. This results in throughput performance issues.
This appears to be linked to QoS being enabled on the router. Disabling QoS results in the router dropping CPU down to less than 10%, which in turn gives the router the ability to perform at full speeds.
